Learn to Play Music

Warm up with scales or simple tunes for 5 minutes being aware of pick or bow direction. Also check your posture and breathing as these can make a real difference in your playing.

Play through the melodies on your "play list" taking note of any problems with pick or bow direction or in timing or wrong notes. Listen to the tape for help and to learn the tune.

Play the chords for all songs on the "play list" checking for any difficult areas.

Practice any problems found in the "play through" for 5 minutes by slowing down or breaking it into smaller pieces. If you don’t correct the problem in 5 minutes, then the next day, break it down smaller until you get it under control.

Listen to the recording of the song you are working on many times a day. Having the tune in your head will make a simpler job for your fingers.

Play the song you are learning as slow as necessary to play it correctly 3 times through.
