This is a picture of the Scandinavian style carving on the head of the dulcimer. It depicts a Nisse who watches over the children acting as a guardian or a nasty elf if need be. In this case I carved him to be a little wizard. Most of the time he is serene, happily listening to the music, but play out of time or play a wrong note and his nasty side comes out.  He runs down the fingerboard and kicks you in the knuckles. (Kind of reminds me of my first music teacher!)

This is our award winning dulcimer. Fellow musicians and customers love it and we were pleased that the fine art judges appreciated it and awarded us first place.

This is a close up of the stars and moon fingerboard. The inlay is done in mother of pearl and abalone.
